UMC board approves capex for capacity expansion

The board of directors of United Microelectronics (UMC) has approved an additional capital expenditure (capex) budget of NT$9.34 billion (US$293.8 million) for building new production capacity, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
