In response to market watchers' suggestions that Asustek Computer should merge with Acer to create synergies and international competitiveness, Acer CEO Jason Chen emphasized that this is really impossible, not least because Asustek and Acer have a combined market share of about 70% in Taiwan and so a merger would violate Fair Trade law.
