Competition to heat up in smart speaker chip sector in 2H18

As global demand for smart voice assistant devices is estimated to soar sharply from 30 million units to 50 million in 2018 before hitting over 80 million in 2020, an increasing number of IC design houses including Qualcomm and MediaTek are gearing up to win orders for providing related chip solutions, and competition is likely to start heating up in the second half of 2018, according to industry sources.
