United Microelectronics (UMC) has forecast its wafer shipments will rise 2-3% sequentially in the first quarter of 2015, as its capacity utilization rate will hover around 90%, and ASP will edge up about 3% during the quarter. The guidance indicates a particularly strong first quarter for the foundry chipmaker.
