AndersDX selects Camden for new HQ

Anders Panoramic Display and display processor firm AndersDX has opened a new HQ in Camden, London, with a larger engineering lab and digital signage showroom.

“Anders had been at its location for over 50 years,” said sales and marketing director Paul Mullen. “The building served us extremely well, but we have outgrown what was a traditional building and now have the opportunity to move to accommodation that reflects the business we have become.”

The firm provides standard and custom displays, as well as display-driving single-board computers (SBCs), plus custom adapter boards to match any SBC to any display.

“A lot of people do single-board computers and a lot of people do displays; we do both,” Mullen told Electronics Weekly.

Displays can be modified – cut to a different size, for example – and also custom-built from the glass up through partners in Taiwan and China.

Mullen said the need for capacitive touch is bringing in business: “Projective capacitive touch is the hardest thing: getting the software drivers to work with the hardware, then getting the display and touch drivers integrated with the operating system. EMC affects touch performance, getting touch to work in metal enclosures is challenging, and you have to certify the final product.”

The firm has built a ‘solutions clinic’ at its new location.

“Seeing is believing with display technology. At our solutions clinic we can show customers new technologies and review their current display-based projects. We can help optimise size, power consumption or cost, whilst enhancing performance and appearance,” said Mullen.

Bespoke demonstrators are built in the engineering lab.

Anders “We can load the customer’s application onto the demonstrator, allowing them to see for themselves exactly how their project will look on the different screens that are available,” said Mullen. Rapid prototyping is also available.

The showroom is shared with Philips Signage Solutions and Anders subsidiary Tiny Green PC Company, and it features AndersDX’ own Raspberry Pi-based ‘Pi MediaPlayer’ for displays.

Architecturally the new buiding is interesting, having glass floor panels in the showroom through which to view the labs, for example.
