Commentary: Automated production lines a priority for ODMs

Foxconn Electronics (Hon Hai Precision Industry) has signed contracts with Korea-based SK C&C to establish a joint venture and apply SK C&C's IT services to Foxconn's automated production lines in China. The partnership showed that automated production lines have gradually become important for manufacturers and upgrading their existing production lines to automated ones has become a priority for ODMs such as Quanta Computer, Compal Electronics, Wistron and Inventec.
