Japan firms in new push for OLED

Following the announcement that Innovation Network Corporation of Japan (INCJ), Japan Display (JDI), Sony, and Panasonic have executed a definitive agreement to establish a new company, JOLED, to integrate Sony and Panasonic's R&D functions for OLED display panels and accelerate the development and early commercialization of OLED display panels, reports from various news sources in Japan and Taiwan indicate the company is on track for trial production of 10- to 12-inch OLED tablet panels in addition to 13.3-inch OLED notebook panels for 2016 followed by mass production in 2018. Apple is said to be the main receiver of the technology.
