Automotive applications beckon as ARM Cortex-M0+ microcontrollers get AEC-Q100 grad1 certification in Freescale’s Kinetis EA series.
The 32bit MCU cores run at 48MHz and operate over -40 to 125°C and 2.7-5.5V (including flash write).
“This family of microcontrollers from Freescale offers robust EMI performance and extended, automotive-grade temperature range,” said David Shen, CTO at Farnell, which is stocking the MCUs and their development tools.
Memory options stretch to 128kbyte, and packages to a 80LQPF with 71 I/O pins.
Software tools include IDEs (integrated development environments), Processor Expert software modelling tool, MQX RTOS and AUTOSA.
A LIN/CAN driver, flash initialisation software, and motor control libraries are available free.
To aid the selection of development hardware and software, a web-based tool is available to walk potential users through the options. Support tools include reference designs for motor control, networking, LED lighting and two-wheel engine control for vehicles, as well as software packs for lighting and motor control, driver packages and StarterTRAK development boards.
