Socionext, a Japan-based corporation focused on the design, development, and sales of system-on-chip (SoC) solutions/services, is a new company to the technology industry after having recently been established in March 2015 from investments from the Development Bank of Japan, Fujitsu Limited and Panasonic Corporation. Investment from the two Japan vendors were part of efforts to create more vertically solutions from an integrated supply chain for Japan while the government stepped up investments to help the local semiconductor industry, which Socionext emphasized has been struggling over the years.
