Taiwan-based smartphone vendor HTC expects demand for contract-free (SIM-free) smartphones in the Japan market to take off after the Japan government allowed sales of such smartphones in addition to originally required contract-bundled sales in May 2015, and thus will enhance marketing of entry-level, mid-range and high-end models there, according to HTC North Asia president Jack Tung.
