Those bellwethers, the Taiwan foundries, reported record April revenues.
TSMC had April revenues up 4.2% on March at $2.45 billion – an increase of 21.7 % on April 2014.
YTD revenues are up 41.5% at $9.7 billion.
TSMC reckons May sales will be about $2.1 billion and June’s sales will be similar delivering Q2 sales of about $6.7 billion – 7-8% down on Q1.
HoweverTSMC expects H2 to see a pick up as inventory depletes and 16nm production kicks in.
UMC had April revenues up 2.4% on March at $423 million – an increase of 12.9 % over April 2014.
YTD revenues are up 17.2% at $1.65 billion.
