Sony is to license its LDAC hi-res audio technology in an attempt to kick-start the market.
The availability of licences is reported to be sometime in the next fiscal year which could take it up to March 31st 2016.
It is said that licensing fees will be low.
Sony has done this before – licensing both its CD and MiniDisc technology to expand the market.
LDAC triples the data-rate over Bluetooth.
XMOS is currently shipping a hi-res audio processor family called xCORE-AUDIO which moves audio from CD quality at 44KHz with 16bits resolution to 384KHz with 24bits resolution.
The xCORE-AUDIO processor uses stereo Hi-Res-2.
