The UK Office of National Statistics (ONS) has published internet access figures for adults this year.
- 68% accessed the internet using a mobile device, rising to 96% for 16 to 24 year-olds.
- 54% accessed social media (91% for 16 to 24 year olds).
- 76% accessed the internet daily (35% in 2006).
- 84% of households have some kind of internet connection (9% in 1998).
- 74% bought goods and services online. Clothes were the most popular online purchase, bought by 49% of adults.
- 55% used the Internet to read or download news, newspapers or magazines (20% in 2007).
