Nichia obtains 2 white LED patents from EPO, enhances patent infringement charge against Everlight Electronics

Japan-based Nichia has obtained two new white LED patents mainly concerning YAG phosphoric material from the European Patent Office (EPO). The two patents strengthen a pending charge against Taiwan-based Everlight Electronics and its Germany-based subsidiary Everlight Electronics Europe GmbH for infringing its patent EP 936 682 (DE 697 02 929, the YAG patent) at the Dusseldorf Higher Regional Court, according to the company.
