Digi-Key has announced that its long-time president and chief operating officer, Mark Larson, will hand over operational control of the online distributor to Dave Doherty at the end of the month.
Larson, who joined the US-based company in 1976, will join Digi-Key founder Ron Stordahl in a board-level advisory role as vice chairman.
In 2014, Larson was awarded the Elektra European Electronic Industry Lifetime Achievement Award, as well as the US electronic component industry’s Gail S. Carter Award, which pays tribute to Larson for his accomplishments and his contribution to the electronics industry.
“Over the past 39 years, I’ve enjoyed the daily challenge of adapting and improving our business to better serve our customers. By staying the course and focusing on the fundamentals, we just kept doing what we did best better and better each day,” said Larson.
In his time at the company Larson has seen Digi-Key’s global sales revenues increased from $800,000 to $1.76bn.
The company’s current executive vice president of operations, Doherty will take up the role of president and COO on July 1, 2015.
“Looking forward, as the industry continues to evolve, Digi-Key is well positioned for the next stage and I’m extremely confident in the future of the company with Dave Doherty at the helm,” said Larson
