The 28nm HKMG process at United Microelectronics Corporation (UMC) has been verified by Broadcom, allowing the Taiwan-based foundry house to begin wafer starts for the US-based chipset vendor in the second quarter of 2014, according to a Chinese-language Economic Daily News (EDN) report.
