Silicon Motion Technology expects its revenues to increase 15-20% sequentially in the third quarter of 2014, from US$69.41 million a quarter earlier. Third-quarter gross margin will stay at 50-52% compared to 52.2% in the previous quarter.

Radiant Opto-Electronics nets NT$3.07 per share for 1H14

Backlight unit (BLU) maker Radiant Opto-Electronics has reported consolidated revenues of NT$23.308 billion (US$778 million), gross margin of 13.38%, net profit of NT$1.427 billion and net EPS of NT$3.07 for first-half 2014.

HTC conservative about 3Q14

HTC has forecast consolidated revenues of NT$42-47 billion (US$1.40-1.57 billion) for the third quarter of 2014, decreasing 27.8-35.5% on quarter, gross margin of 22.5-23.0% and net EPS of NT$0.05-0.69, according to company CFO and Global Sales president Chang Chia-lin.

Taiwan 2Q14 economic growth rate upward adjusted to 3.84%, says DGBAS

Taiwan's economic growth rate, on-year growth in GDP, in the second quarter of 2014 has been upward adjusted from 2.79% estimated in May 2014 to 3.84%, according to an advance estimate released by the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) on July 31.
