China-based Unigroup Spreadtrum RDA, a merger of IC designers Spreadtrum Communications and RDA Microelectronics under Tsinghua Unigroup, is poised to perform better in the smartphone chipset market with fresh momentum in 2018, as it will create eight major product lines, including in-house developed embedded smartphone CPU solutions and 5G chips, and enhance business internationalization to further bolster its presence in the global market, according to company sources.
