Nichia wins German Federal Court judgment on validity of YAG patent

The German Federal Court of Justice on August 16 determined that Japan-based LED maker Nichia's YAG (yttrium aluminum garnet) phosphoric material patent EP (European patent code) 936 682, corresponding to German patent code DE 697 02 929, is valid. The judgment is final, meaning Taiwan-based LED packaging service provider Everlight Electronics, which had filed to invalidate the patent, cannot appeal, according to Nichia.
