Hinge makers see increasing demand for MIM-made hinges

Demand for metal injection molding-made (MIM) hinges is expected to grow strongly in the second half of the year as Apple's upcoming new ultra-thin MacBooks will feature the component, while many brand vendors' new 2-in-1 devices will also continue using the hinges. Taiwan-based hinge maker Shin Zu Shing (SZS) is planning to establish six more MIM sintering furnaces and Jarllytec will add one in the second half of the year to satisfy client demand, according to sources from the upstream supply chain.
