UMC buys more equipment for Xiamen fab

United Microelectronics (UMC) has purchased a total of NT$1.98 billion (US$59.5 million) worth of equipment from Murata Machinery and Applied Materials for its 12-inch wafer fab in Xiamen, according to a company filing with the Taiwan Stock Exchange (TSE).
