Digitimes Research: Alternative technologies may deter development of LTE-enabled chips

While a number of chipset vendors including Sequans Communications, Altair and Qualcomm have released related chips supporting 3GPP r12 standards, and Intel and MediaTek are likely to follow suit shortly, telecom operators' reluctance to use the new chips and the possibility of new alternative technologies may deter the development of LTE-based chips in the IoT market, according to Digitimes Research.
