Bring your own thermostat demand response programs represent a target market of US$1.4 billion, says Navigant

Since 2012, utilities across the United States have been piloting bring your own thermostat (BYOT) demand response (DR) programs, supplementing legacy direct install strategies that use pre-selected one-way thermostat models. These pilot programs allow customers to purchase devices from vendors of their choosing while still offering the ability to participate in the utility's DR or load curtailing programs. According to a new report from Navigant Research, BYOT DR programs represent a target market of US$1.4 billion.
