Epistar, Opto Tech poised to produce infrared LED chips for iris recognition

LED epitaxial wafer and chip maker Epistar is in the process of certification for its infrared LED chips for use in iris recognition by supply chains of US-based smartphone vendors, while fellow maker Opto Tech is doing so by Taiwan- and South Korea-based smartphone-use CCM (compact camera module) makers, according to industry sources.
