The 2014 PC market will decline 6.1% after a 9.8% decline in 2013, says IDC.
This will take the units down to 295.5 million from 315 million last year. The slippage will continue down to 291.7 million in 2018.

XP replacement might have reduced the decline but, if so, not by much.
Emerging markets drove the decline falling by 11.3%.
“Emerging markets used to be a core driver of the PC market,” says IDC’s Loren Loverde, “at the moment, however, we’re seeing emerging regions more affected by a weak economic environment as well as significant shifts in technology buying priorities.”
