TCAS 2014: BenQ to promote short-distance projectors

BenQ is set to focus on promoting its new short-distance consumer projectors, which feature 3,000 lumens and only require 2.5m of distance to project 100-inch images, at the Taipei Consumer Applications Show (TCAS) 2014, July 31-August 4.

Chassis makers doubtful about rumors Samsung to release metal chassis smartphone

With Apple's next-generation iPhones expected to appear in the market soon, rumors that Samsung Electronics is planning to release a metal-chassis smartphone in September to defend its position have been circulating in the market; however, sources from chassis makers pointed out that Samsung may not be able to obtain sufficient supply as most available metal chassis capacity has already been booked by Apple.

Samsung reportedly suffering from infighting; may impact upcoming smartphone plans, says report

Digitimes Research: Xiaomi to see slower growth in smartphone shipments in China market

Xiaomi Technology ranked first in smartphone shipments in the China market among China-based vendors in the first half of 2014, but will see growth in shipments gradually slow down mainly because other vendors started using online marketing in the second quarter and have launched or will launch models with high performance-price ratios for sale at CNY799-999 (US$129-161), according to Digitimes Research.

Worldwide digital production color print market to see cumulative shipment value reach nearly US$25 billion over 2014-2018, says IDC

According to International Data Corporation (IDC), the worldwide digital production color market continued its unabated growth of top-line shipment value in 2013. The industry achieved record shipment values of US$4.4 billion in 2013, fueled by growth in a range of technologies, from mid-production cut sheet to ultra-high volume inkjet systems. The cumulative value of shipments is expected to approach US$25 billion over the 2014-2018 forecast period, climbing from US$4.6 billion to US$5.4 billion with a CAGR of 4.2%.

Global pay-TV market to generate US$280.4 billion in 2014, with 45% of subscribers watching HD content, says ABI Research

The worldwide pay-TV market continued to grow in first-quarter 2014. According to ABI Research, the total pay-TV subscriber base is expected to surpass 936.4 million at the end of 2014, generating US$280.4 billion in service revenues.
