Top-3 Taiwan telecom operators to hand out substantial cash dividend for 2015

Top-3 Taiwan-based telecom operators Chunghwa Telecom (CHT), Taiwan Mobile (TWM) and Far EasTone Telecommunications (ETT) will deal out cash dividends totaling NT$69.97 billion (US$2.169 billion) for their performances in 2015, during which the three companies generated total net profits of NT$69.99 billion.

Digitimes Research: iPhone shipments to rebound in 3Q16, but ASP to drop to US$600

Apple is expected to ship 41-43 million iPhone devices in the second quarter of 2016 (or Apple's fiscal third quarter) before ramping up shipments to 45-48 millionin the third quarter, according to the latest estimate of Digitimes Research, which made the assessment based on Apple's recently released financial reports and related information provided by sources from Taiwan's handset supply chain.

HTC sells land to improve financial operations

HTC has reported that it sold recently a land lot located in Taoyuan City, northern Taiwan for a total of NT$2.88 billion (US$89.29 million), which will generate an income of NT$990 million.

Delta Electronics invests in Delta Controls, Loy Tec, Innocontrol to tap building automation market

Power supply maker and energy management solution provider Delta Electronics has revealed it will acquire a 100% stake in Canada-based Delta Controls at CAD220 million (US$175 million) and has already acquired both Austria-based Loy Tec electronics GmbH and Innocontrol electronics GmbH at EUR72 million (US$81.4 million) to tap the building automation market.

MediaTek looks to higher revenues but lower gross margin in 2Q16

Taiwan 1Q16 economic growth at -0.84%, says DGBAS

Taiwan's economic growth rate for first-quarter 2016 is estimated at -0.84%, downward adjusted by 0.20pp from the forecast made in February 2016, the Directorate General of Budget, Accounting and Statistics (DGBAS) said on April 29.

SiP demand stays weak in 2Q16, says ASE
